Mr. Chen Shujie, chairman and founder of the group, Mr. Chen Shujie, was born in Guangzhou, China. His father, General Chen Jitang, was the governor of Guangdong and Guangxi provinces in the 1930s, known as "the king of the South". During the reign of General Chen, the people had plenty of food and clothing, stability and prosperity. Therefore, he won the hearts of the people and is still loved by the older generation. When he was young, Mr. Chen had a large number of guests in his family. Many of his chefs were skillful. He had to taste all kinds of delicacies. He was more sensitive to color, aroma and taste than ordinary people, and had high requirements for food quality, which laid a foundation for his future success in the food industry. In his early years, Mr. Chen Shujie was a student in the United States and obtained a master"s degree in science. After returning to Hong Kong, he devoted himself to education and set up two English secondary schools. He served as the principal and taught in person. But Mr. Chen has always been hungry for high-quality food. He often laughs that most people eat for survival, and he lives for food. He firmly believes that he has the ability to run a restaurant to bring the best quality food to the guests, while at the same time taking care of their health. Finally, despite the advice of his relatives and friends, he set up the first Liyuan restaurant in Sham Shui Po District in 1973. However, in the early stage of starting a business, he had no idea of the location, business policy and products of the shop. After six years of operation, he lost more than 2 million yuan. But Mr. Chen was not discouraged. In order to master the secret of success, he went to the kitchen to learn how to cook in a wok, and searched for people with insight in the industry for advice.
