Dingshu Yangmei, which stands out among many similar fruit varieties, has always been considered as one of the four best Chinese red plum varieties, and its origin is Wenhai Ouhai District. Zhejiang Wenzhou Ouhai District was also adopted by the state in June 2004. Approved by the Ministry of Agriculture and officially named as "the hometown of Chinese bayberry".

Ding Wei Yangmei quality technical requirements (a) site conditions. The altitude is below 300m, the effective accumulated temperature of ≥10°C is 5200°C to 6500°C, the soil type is sandy red loam, the soil layer is deep ≥40cm, and the organic matter content is ≥1.5%. (2) Nursery and construction. 1. Seedlings: The scion is selected from the pure D. chinensis plants, and the appropriate rootstocks are selected to graft and breed good seedlings. 2. Construction: Planting horizontal terraces or fish scale pits on slopes, planting density ≤600 plants/ha. (3) Soil management and fertilization. 1. Soil management: cultivated by natural grass method, the orchard is cultivated every year, the grass is cut before harvesting every year, and the soil is ploughed after harvesting. 2. Fertilization: mainly based on organic fertilizer, combined with chemical fertilizer and foliar fertilizer. (4) Flower and fruit management. Artificial fruit thinning is carried out 2 to 3 times after the hard core period, and each result leaves 1 to 3 fruits. (5) Harvesting and storage. The fruits are fully colored and harvested in batches, and can be stored in ice packs for 3 to 4 days. (6) Quality characteristics. 1. Sensory characteristics: The fruit pulp is full and round, the meat is tender and brittle, and the color is purple and bright; the fruit stalk is 2.5cm to 3.5cm long, and the base of the fruit stalk has a red ball-shaped protrusion, which is known as "Red plate green stalk"; average single fruit weight ≥ 12g. 2. Physical and chemical indicators: soluble solids ≥ 10%, total acid ≤ 1.5%, edible rate ≥ 85%.

Producers within the scope of protection of Ding Wei Yangmei Geographical Indication Products may submit an application to the Quality and Technical Supervision Bureau of Wenzhou Ouhai District for the use of the “Special Mark for Geographical Indication Products”, which shall be approved by the General Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine.
