The ponkan is a kind of mandarin, a traditional specialty fruit of Wenzhou. Wenzhou is cultivated all over the country, because Wenzhou is called the Yueyue and hence its name. The ripe ponkan is golden yellow. It tastes slightly bitter and then sweet when consumed. It has a special aroma.

Technical requirements for citrus quality (1) Site conditions. Below 300m above sea level, the soil type is paddy soil or red loam soil, the soil layer thickness is ≥70cm, the groundwater level is below 80cm, the pH value is 5.5 to 7.0, and the soil organic matter content is ≥1.5%. Physical and chemical indicators: soluble solids ≥ 11%, total acid ≤ 1.0%, edible rate ≥ 65%.
