Mingyuan Hotel, the earliest hotel in Nanning involving foreign affairs, was built in 1952 and is located in the downtown area of Nanning. It covers an area of 60000 square meters, 51% of which is covered by greens and blossoming flowers. Pavilions and ponds are dotted in this garden of south-china style. Building NO.5 mainly serves state guests, Building NO.1 is of four-star level, and Building NO.2 and Building NO.7 are at a lower price to the ordinary guests. There are more than ten meeting rooms and six restaurants. A magnificent and spacious banquet hall can cater for 400 people. In 1992, it achieved the three-star hotel and was honored by promotion to a higher post in 2001, and was rewarded to one of “The Top Ten Hotels” of Guangxi province.

Numerous leaders and guests from home and abroad have stayed in Mingyuan Hotel. In January 1958, Chairman Mao Zedong convened a working conference of Central Committee Political Bureau of CPC(called Nanning Conference) in building No. 5, which lasted 28 days. Central leaders, such as Liu Shaoqi, Zhou Enlai, Zhu De, Dong Biwu, He Long and Cheng Yi ,etc. All participated in the conference. They stayed in Building No.2,3,4 and 5 respectively. Ho chi minh, chairman of the Democratic Republic of Vietnam stayed in Building No.5 of Mingyuan Hotel on May 19th, 1960. And another foreign politician Sihanouk, king of Cambodia stayed in the same building above-mentioned on June 25th, 1963. The Socialist Republic of Viet NamThe Socialist Republic of Viet NamThe Socialist Republic of Viet NamHere it has been known generally as the provincial hotel in Guangxi.
