Hanshou turtle, special product of Hanshou County, Hunan Province, China National Geographical Indications. Hanshou County is located on the bank of Dongting Lake in the north of Hunan. Since ancient times, it has been known as the “land of fish and rice”. The artificial breeding of turtles has been the first in the country and won the reputation of the “hometown of turtles”. Hanshou turtle is an authentic Chinese sturgeon, which has been identified as an excellent variety by Hunan Province. Compared with other turtle breeds, Hanshou turtle has large body flakes, wide and thick skirt, and egg fat in the abdomen; strong body and flexible crawling. It has strong immunity, fast growth rate and high survival rate. When eaten, its meat quality is pure, tender and delicious, chewy, and its nutritional value and medicinal value are superior to other populations.
